About me

Who's behind it

I've worked at agencies. I know how the operation looks from the inside. That's why I do it differently.

My background is Multimedia Design – I think in layouts and user journeys, not algorithms. After graduation I deliberately chose the games industry: Quality assurance at Goodgame Studios, FISHLABS, and Daedalic. Three years of professionally finding bugs before a user sees them. That shapes you.

In 2017 I worked at YOOtheme – the company that makes the page builder I still use today. I helped write the documentation and have been working with it daily for 9 years.

After that, frontend development at an advertising agency – but I already had agency experience before that through internships and client projects during my studies. And the games studios I worked at function internally almost identically to an agency. That's where I saw what clients pay for: office space, account managers, coordination rounds. The actual development was a fraction of the bill. Since 2023 I've been exclusively self-employed – and that insight is my business model.

My wife Annemarie is an editor. Every text that goes out over my name is professionally edited. That's not a bonus – that's standard.

About Remote Work

"Can you come by in person sometimes?" – The most common question. The honest answer:

My preferred mode is remote – but if you insist, I'll meet you. Since 2010 I've worked for clients in Hamburg, Bonn, Osnabrück, Vechta, Landshut – without ever being on-site. Not a single one said the result would have been better if we'd been in the same room.

Video calls have advantages that in-person meetings don't: screen sharing, we're both at our computers, more flexible scheduling. At an on-site meeting you sit there with pen and paper, I'm looking at a small laptop screen – and afterward everything still has to be summarized digitally.

Think about it the other way: Most agencies work internally remote already. Their developers sit in home offices. You still pay for the office, the reception, and the meeting room where you drink your coffee. Have your coffee at home – and invest the savings in the website.
